So after more than an year of speculation and calculation, iPhone X is finally real. With plenty of surprises under the hood, it’s Apple’s best iPhone yet. But that doesn’t automatically mean that you should go and buy it, thanks to its hefty price tag.
You should carefully analyze all its pros and cons before buying it because there’s a decent price tag attached to it. And for that reason, we’re here to help you out. Here we’re gonna take you through all the pros and cons of iPhone X. Let’s begin:
Apple iPhone X Specs
iPhone X comes with a 5.8-inch edge-to-edge OLED display, a new six-core A11 Bionic chip, 12mp dual-lens primary camera, 7mp Facetime HD front camera, storage options of 64GB or 256GB, Face ID, wireless charging and fast charging.
The display included in it is Apple’s brightest and sharpest display till date – it’s a Super Retina HD display with resolution of 2,436 x 1,125 pixels, which translates to 458 ppi.
Apple iPhone X Pros
iPhone X comes with some seriously amazing benefits, which are as follows:
#1. Gorgeous design and premium build quality
Apple is world famous for its stunning design, so little surprise that iPhone X is their most beautiful iPhone till date. With a design which has been crafted almost entirely out of glass (with stainless steel frame on the side) it’s a device that looks shiny and gorgeous from every direction.
And it’s also quite good when it comes to build quality – surgical grade glass and metal has been used to make it, and everything has been joined to such a level of perfection that iPhone X is water, splash and dust proof.

Apple iPhone X Pros and Cons: How Good is the Most Awaited Smartphone of 2017
The front of iPhone X is made almost entirely of screen. The screen has been joined with metal frame on the side in such a way that when you hold it in your hand it looks like there’s nothing else except for the screen in your hand.
And that edge-to-edge display is also the brightest that Apple has ever installed in a phone. It’s Super Retina HD display with resolution of 2,436 x 1,125 pixels – in a nutshell, a display you wanna look at.
#2. Powerful Processor
Like most other iPhones launched by Apple till date iPhone X also comes with a new chip. The chip is called A11 Bionic, which is a six-core powerhouse with neural engine capable of performing a whooping 600 billion operations per second! That powerful chip processes all your tasks, and also processes all data sent by the front facing camera to securely unlock your iPhone through Face ID.
#3. Face recognition
Since we’re on the subject of Face ID, let’s explore it in more detail right here. According to Apple it’s a newer, faster and more secure way of authentication for your iPhone. Apple says that it works because of a new “True Depth” front facing camera and the powerful A11 Bionic chip.
The camera is important because it measures the depth of your face correctly and collects up to 30,000 different data points to paint a geometry of your facial structure, which is then processed for verification by the powerful A11 Bionic chip every time when you want to unlock your iPhone.
Apple says that it works flawlessly and rapidly because of the integration of this new chip, the verification software and True Depth camera, but it remains to be seen how reliable this new combination is. But still, it’s good to have a new authentication mechanism on iPhone, especially if it’s faster than the previous one.
#4. Great cameras
Though the dual camera setup of iPhone X is still made of 12mp shooters, this time it has been blessed with some good changes. First of them is optical image stabilization in both lenses – iPhone 7 Plus had OIS in just one lens.
Second major change is that this time the lenses have been arranged vertically instead of the horizontal setup that was seen in iPhone 7 Plus (and is still present in iPhone 8 Plus). Both these changes can help a lot in achieving image quality better than that of iPhone 7 Plus.
#5. Wireless charging and Fast charging
Finally, this is Apple’s first iPhone with support for wireless charging and fast charging both. You can charge your iPhone X up to 50% within 30 minutes, and you can also charge it wirelessly if you want to.
It works with all Qi Chargers, so you’re unlikely to encounter any problem in charging it on wireless charging pads and mats available on airports, hotels and other public places.
Apple iPhone X Cons
Some cons are also present in iPhone X, which are as follows:
#1. Display could have been brighter
While iPhone X’s display is brightest display ever installed by Apple in any of its iPhones, other products available in the market suggest that there was still some room for improvement.
To be precise, that Super Retina HD display is nowhere as bright as that of Samsung Galaxy S8. As per the specs sheet of iPhone X, its display maxes out at 625 nits, while Galaxy S8’s display maxes out at 1,240 nits – almost double. May be next time, Apple.
#2. No fingerprint sensor
While inclusion of Face ID as a new authentication mechanism is a welcome move, its replacement of fingerprint sensor is not. It still remains to be seen how reliable this new technology is, and since we’ll also be using it to authenticate payments through Apple Pay, it’s reliability is a serious topic of concern. Hopefully Apple has perfected it well to avoid any pitfalls.
#3. Camera is same as that of iPhone 7 Plus
While dual-camera setup of iPhone X is great, as described in the pros section given above, it’s basically the same 12mp shooter that comes with iPhone 7 Plus. It would’ve been better if Apple would’ve included higher megapixel shooters in this phone.
#4. Hefty price tag
Finally, iPhone X is out of reach for most of us. While that has always been true for most Apple products, this new iPhone is taking things to an entirely new level. The 64GB version is going to cost $999 in US and ₹89,000 in India. The 256GB model is even more ahead of it – $1,149 in US and ₹102,000 in India.
Conclusion
While iPhone X is Apple’s greatest and most powerful iPhone till date, it’s also the costliest. It’s hefty price tag may be a major reason to refrain the buyers from purchasing it. That’s also because despite its hefty price tag some features included in it are like old wine being presented in the new bottle (i.e. primary camera).
Pros | Cons |

Powerful processor | No fingerprint sensor |
Water, splash and dust proof | Hefty price tag |
Face recognition | Camera is more or less the same as one included in iPhone 7 Plus |

Besides that, implementation of new technologies (i.e. Face ID) is also remaining to be seen. The phone can make new records of sales only if its performance is found up to the mark in all major areas of changes. So we need to wait and watch with fingers crossed.
