Samsung is going to launch its Samsung Galaxy S9 flagship smartphone in two days, which will compete against Apple iPhone X launched a few months ago. Is it good enough to win over iPhone X? Does it justify its hefty price tag in comparison to iPhone X? These are interesting questions we’ll try to answer here in this comparison. Let’s begin:
Apple iPhone X vs. Samsung Galaxy S9: Display
iPhone X comes with a 5.8-inch display, and Galaxy S9 will also come with a 5.8-inch display. However, the resolutions of both these devices are gonna be very different. While iPhone X will have a resolution of 1,125 x 2,436 pixels, Galaxy S9 will come with 1,440 x 2,436 px resolution. This difference in display resolution gives Samsung’s beast an upper hand over Apple’s best smartphone.
Apple iPhone X vs. Galaxy S9: Performance
In terms of performance, Apple may emerge as the winner. Its iPhone X comes with a six-core A11 Bionic chip that was significantly faster than Snapdragon 835. Now Galaxy S9 will come with Snapdragon 845, which is certainly much better than its predecessor, but it remains to be seen how powerful it is in comparison to A11 Bionic of Apple.
Apple iPhone X vs. Samsung Galaxy S9: Camera
When it comes to the camera, iPhone X is clearly a winner. It comes with the 12mp dual-lens primary camera, while Galaxy S9 will come with 12mp single-lens camera. And though there’re rumors that it will have variable aperture lens that will give it some unique photography capabilities, it doesn’t seem that those capabilities will be good enough to challenge Apple’s dual-lens shooter.
On the selfie front, iPhone X comes with a 7mp shooter, while Galaxy S9 will arrive with an 8mp one. Not too much of a difference.
Apple iPhone X vs. Samsung Galaxy S9: Storage
iPhone X comes with 64GB and 256GB storage options, with no expandable storage capacity. Galaxy S9, however, will come with a micro SD card slot that can support up to 256GB of expandable storage. This thing alone gives it an advantage above iPhone X.
Apple iPhone X vs. Samsung Galaxy S9: Battery Life
Apple’s 2,716 mAh battery loaded in iPhone X gives it the power to run for a whole day. Galaxy S9 is gonna come with a bigger 3,200 mAh battery and a processor that’s more power efficient than any other mobile processor developed by Qualcomm till now. It will be interesting to see how Galaxy S9 fairs in the battery life department, but we expect it to be able to last at least a whole day like iPhone X.
Apple iPhone X vs. Samsung Galaxy S9: Price
The price of Apple iPhone X is little expensive than Samsung Galaxy S9. The Price of iPhone X is around $999. On the other hand the price of Samsung Galaxy S9 is $719.
Right now it seems that Samsung Galaxy S9 is better only when it comes to display. iPhone X has got a better camera, and probably a better processor too (this remains to be seen though). iPhone X also has a more distinctive and unique design in comparison to that of Galaxy S9. Other things (i.e. performance, battery life) are not clear yet because Galaxy S9 has not been launched. We’ll let you know how it fairs in these departments against iPhone X when it has been launched. But for now, iPhone X seems a better deal from design and camera perspective, especially when we take the $1,000 price tag of both devices into account.
