It seems that Samsung is going to launch a whole lot of smartphones in the first half of next year. We’ve already been hearing about Galaxy S9 and S9+, Galaxy X, Galaxy A5, Galaxy A7 and Galaxy A8. But now rumors and leaks are pointing towards the launch of one more smartphone during that period, and that is Galaxy J5 Prime 2018. This one just cleared FCC, which means that it’s almost on the verge of being launched. Therefore, it makes sense to take a look at its rumors, specs, price and release date.
Rumors & Specs
Before this FCC listing, Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime was spotted on benchmarking site GFX Bench. That particular listing revealed almost everything about the specs of this device and based on that leak we know that Galaxy J5 Prime will come with an Exynos 7570 quad-core processor, 3GB RAM, 4.8-inch HD display, 12mp primary camera and 8mp secondary camera.
Android Nougat OS and a non-removable battery are other leaked specifications of Galaxy J5 Prime. With this kind of specs, J5 Prime 2018 seems an incremental upgrade over its predecessor. In fact, in some areas, it doesn’t even seem like an upgrade. For example, the display size of 4.8-inches is less than the 5-inches of current generation Galaxy J5 Prime. The only good thing about this change will be that it will increase the pixel density, so colors may look slightly better on this upcoming Galaxy J5 Prime.
Price & Release Date
While Samsung has not given any clues regarding the launch date of this device till now, the FCC certification means that its launch is just around the corner. A December – January is possible because it will also fall in-line with the festive holiday season. ACES launch is also quite probably because that will bring the required media coverage and exposure to the launch without requiring a lot of money for promotion. But since it’s Samsung, we can’t be too sure as of now. They may also launch the device before CES through a separate launch event. Anything is possible.
Now let’ talk a bit about the price. Since this is just an incremental upgrade over last year’s model, there should not be any significant price difference between both models. So as far as price is concerned, I hope it’ll be around $200, similar to the price of original Galaxy J5 Prime.
So this is all that we know about Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime 2018 as of now. We’ll let you know more about it when it’s launched, so keep checking back.
