Huawei had stolen the show at last year’s MWC with the launch of its P10 flagship smartphone. Now it’s the same time of the year once again, and we’re hearing that company is working on the successor of P10. This time it’s a bit different though because there’re rumors not only about the specs and features of this device but also about its name.
Yep – it has been known by two different names in the rumor mill – P11 and P20. So now when its launch is approaching, it makes sense to take a look at all of its rumors. And that’s precisely what we’re going to do in this article. Let’s begin:
Huawei P11 or P20: What will it be called?
There were reports that Huawei is considering a change to the naming scheme of its P series flagship smartphones, and therefore, rather than P11, we’ll get a P20 this year. However, recently it has been heard that company has trademarked P11 brand name, which means that we’re very likely to get a P11 instead of P20. The name has been trademarked in USA, Hong Kong, Taiwan, UK and many other major regions.
As for P20, we don’t know about its fate as of now. It may later come as a separate device, or it may not come at all. We’re not sure about it, but for now, it seems that we’ll get a P11 and nothing else to succeed the P10.
Huawei P11 Rumored Features
As far as rumors of P11 are concerned, they’re suggesting a very unique and solid flagship smartphone. There’re a number of interesting things emerging from the rumor mill about this upcoming flagship, and the biggest among them is presence of a triple-lens camera on the back of device. How will this camera work and what will be the purpose of 3 lenses is not known yet, but we’re hearing that it will probably be able to capture the images of 41mp resolution even. The device is also rumored to come with company’s proprietary face unlocking feature to answer Apple’s Face ID.
Huawei P11 Rumored Specs
The rumored specs of the device include company’s own octa-core Kirin 970 processor, 6GB RAM, 5.8-inch IPS LCD display with very narrow bezels and 18:9 aspect ratio. 8mp selfie camera, Android 8.0 Oreo and 3,200 mAh battery are other rumored specs of P11. The rear camera will obviously be made in partnership with Leica, as it was made for P10, but this time probably with 3 lenses.
Huawei P11 Expected Price
Based on these specs it seems that P11 will be much costlier than P10. It also makes sense because P9 was launched for £450, P10 for £550 and now it’s time for P11. However, to keep the cost at a reasonable level is also necessary for Huawei if it wants to make P11 a success. So we expect that the price of the device should be higher than £650.
Huawei P11 Expected Release Date
This out of the world smartphone is very likely to debut at Mobile World Congress. However, it’s not confirmed yet, because despite being an exhibitor at MWC the company has not yet sent press invites for any of its conferences at the event. Besides that, there’re also reports in the press based on insider claims that company is planning to launch the device after MWC. So we’re not sure yet whether we’ll see the launch of the device next month or not, but if it doesn’t happen next month then I hope it will happen soon after the conclusion of MWC. So probably we’re betting on a launch by the first week of March. Let’s wait and watch!
