Things are going pretty good for Nokia these days. Ever since this Finnish company was acquired by HMD Global it has continued to march towards its glory days at a steady pace. Recently Counterpoint Research predicted that company might’ve sold 4.1 million devices in the last quarter of 2017. Now if its 2018 flagships are more awesome than their predecessors, things may become even better this year. One of those flagships is Nokia 9, and therefore, company’s loyal customers expect a lot from it. So let’s take a look at everything that we know about it so far based on leaks and hard work of rumor mill. Let’s begin:
Nokia 9 Features
Several interesting features are rumored to be a part of this flagship phone. One of them is the presence of a dual-lens camera on both front and rear sides of the device, which have been developed in partnership with Carl Zeiss AG of Germany. Other features include iris scanners, 360-degree OZO audio recording that was seen in Nokia 8 as well, and IP54 waterproof design.
Nokia 9 Rumored Specs
Being Nokia’s first flagship product for this year Nokia 9 is obviously rumored to come with top-end specs. 5.7-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio, Snapdragon 835 processor, 2GB RAM, 12mp+13mp dual-lens primary camera, 5mp secondary camera, Android 8.0 Oreo, 128GB internal storage and 3,250 mAh battery are the rumored specifications of this device. And according to GSMArena, even this 5mp selfie camera is a dual-lens camera with apertures of f/2.0 and f/2.4. This is not your regular [insert megapixel count here]mp selfie camera.
Nokia 9 Expected Price
When you look at the specs and features outlined above, it becomes clear that Nokia 9 won’t be a cheap device. Same is being suggested by the rumors as well – that it will come with a price tag of $800 for 128GB version and $950 for the 256GB version. However, these are not final figures. These figures are based on the estimates of the rumor mill, so take them with a grain of salt.
Nokia 9 Release Date
The launch date of Nokia 9 has been a tricky affair since ever. Earlier it was heard that the device will be launched at CES alongside Nokia 6. But that obviously didn’t happen. Now it’s time for Mobile World Congress, and a company is going to hold a press conference before the event kicks off in Barcelona. The event is on February 25, and there’s a solid chance that Nokia 9 may be unveiled at it. That is for two reasons:
- First, because MWC provides a very powerful platform to smartphone companies for launching new products. The kind of press coverage and other opportunities provided by it are unparalleled, so it will make sense for HMD Global to unveil its first flagship of the year at this event.
- Second reason is that Nokia 9 was recently spotted on FCC’s website, which means that a launch is pretty close. Usually, devices go through FCC certification just a few days before their launch.
Therefore, the chances of this phone being unveiled at MWC are high. Once it has been launched it may be released in major markets within next few months.
This great flagship smartphone is almost on the verge of being launched. And though it will have shortcomings in some major areas (i.e. Snapdragon 835), there will also be many other unique tricks up its sleeve (i.e. dual lens Carl Zeiss cameras on both sides, stock Android, narrow bezels). Therefore, if you’ve ever had love for Nokia, you should wait for this device before purchasing your next flagship smartphone. And don’t worry, your wait is not going to be too long – it may end at MWC itself.
