Welcome ladies and gentle geeks. Here at our channel, we do all the research for you so that you don’t have to go hunting all around the internet. Rumors, speculations, whispers, gossips, our website is a place where you, my gentle visitor, will receive a tangy cocktail of all the above. Our once favorite Nokia once ruled over the mobile market. With the advent of the entry-level smartphones, the little giant was crushed, to say the least.
The whole Symbian series vanished overnight. In a desperate attempt, the company tried to make a comeback with the new Symbian Anna and Belle, but to no avail. The new and cheap Android segment proved too much for them to handle. The whole Nokia lineup gradually dissolved into the oblivion of what seemed to be an eternity.
Shortly after that, Nokia made a contract with Microsoft and out came the Lumia series. However, though a little more optimized than Android, the crushed models lacked a sufficient app market to satisfy the app hungry people. Compared to Android base, Microsoft only had a fraction of their collection.
At the beginning of 2017, Google Plat has a total of ~2.8 million apps. Next, comes Apple App Store with 2.2 million followed by Microsoft Store with only 6,69,00 apps. On top of that, there are many apps and games and games which aren't available on the Microsoft Store. Therefore, Nokia Lumia became appealing to a very specific group of users, especially the corporate sector.
Finally, after their contract with Microsoft finally coming to an end, Nokia is rumored to debut in the present smartphone market with their rumored Nokia D1C.
Nokia D1C Release Date
The Nokia D1C is rumored to launch during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017. The mobile is aiming to target the entry level smartphone segment with a price tag of 10k. It is also said it will come out in two different variants. Since Nokia has confirmed that their CEO Rajiv Suri will speak at the MWC, everyone has their fingers crossed for the much rumored Nokia.
HMD Global was the first company to make this reveal about the smartphone. Since then, pictures, both real (self-assumed) and fan art has begun to surface on the internet. Only time will verify these floating rumors as the speculations related to the mobile continue to rise.
Nokia D1C Specifications
In terms of specs, the Nokia D1C will be sporting the basic 10k package, similar to all its contemporaries. Aside from that, the mobile will also come with its long history of rigidity and durability. A video became viral on the internet, where a girl was breaking walnuts with the D1C! Now we all know that in term of durability, Nokia surpasses any other smartphone out there, but this is ridiculous.
I am sure when the mobile phone do come out, people will try this experiment out. However, being a Nokia fanboy myself, I am a skeptic of any positive results.
Nokia D1C Display
The specs are basic and something everyone expects at this range. Nokia D1C sports a 5.5 inch LCD Full HD display. Other manufacturers mostly offer an IPS display. LCD is backdated and in terms of viewing angles, it has a long history of bad reviews. Hence, it is not the best thing to be introducing in a mobile that is making its debut.
But at this point, all of this is just a speculation, and the truth is yet to be revealed. Who knows, it may have an IPS display after all. Only time will tell. The rumor doesn’t state what type of glass is going to be used but we are assuming that it will the standards Corning gorilla Glass 3.
Upcoming Smartphones 2017 :
Nokia D1C Processor
Under the hood, the D1C packs an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 64 bit processor, clocked at 1.4 GHz. With 3 GB RAM and Adreno 505, it is not much different from the present competition.
Rumors say that another version of the device will be released, which we are assuming will have a boost in the RAM and internal storage capacity. Now, what worries me is that the specs which Nokia D1c will be sporting are presently available in the market. By the time Mobile World Congress is held, it is a possibility that mobiles with superior specs will be launched.
The D1C will then have a tough time competing with them. As such the D1C will fail to make the dent within the smartphone market, required to bring back Nokia into the game. although, the spec at this point is just a speculation. By the time the device is actually released, we may see that it sports far superior features than previously assumed. It’s a possibility.
Nokia D1C Camera and Battery Life
Other features include a metal unibody design, with a 16 megapixel rear and 8-megapixel front camera. No comments about the picture quality though. The device will be loaded with Android 7.0 Nougat. It will be hand dual sim support with 4G LTE and VOLTE when it comes to JIO.
Power by a 3000 mAh battery. Nokia assumption guarantees one and a half day of wake time. The major pickle, however, is the memory. Nokia D1C comes with 16 GB of internal storage. Wow! That’s great. Wait were you expecting more?
Nokia D1C Memory
Unlike its contemporaries, Nokia doesn’t support any external storage capability. Which means that the user is stuck with 16 GB of onboard storage, which at this age and time is not enough. This worries me, and I see this device suffering a lot due to this drawback. External memory is a necessity in almost all the devices and for an entry level device, this particular feature is what appeals most to the user.
Though this is speculation, if this turn into a reality, Nokia will suffer. They have been said to launch another version of the D1C and may include the external memory feature in that one. In that case. In that case, the D1C will suffer in terms of sales number, as buyers will be clamoring to buy the next one.
Nokia D1C Price
Nokia D1C is speculated to cost 10k (Rs. 9,999 to be exact). Is it any good? Well, only time will. Whether a device is properly priced depends vastly on the market. If by the time D1C is released, better competition comes out, sporting better specs below the 10k range, then Nokia will surely be overpriced.
Else, compared to the present entry level smartphone features, I would say that the D1C is perfectly priced. The unavailability of the expandable memory is going to hurt though. The reason people go for the entry level lineup is to get value out of their investment. Expandable memory is something which they expect by default. Stripping that key feature out of the D1C will surely hurt its reputation when it is finally released.
Nokia D1C Final Verdict
Giving a final verdict based off on speculations is incorrect, to say the least. If I take into consideration some of the features that are going to be included in the phone, that by far it is average, to say the least. It may seem that the specification goes on par with the present Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime, if we are currently using the Prime. As we speak, Xioami may be working on a device even better than this one, while Nokia is rumored to be launched with older generation features.
This decreases the value of the D1C before release. But as I said earlier, the Nokia that we are talking about, and the Nokia that is going to be released may well be two different mobile phones. But as it stands, based on present statistics, the D1C doesn’t seem too impressive.
To a Nokia lover, the D1C may prove to be their salvation. Back in that day, there were only a handful of people who didn’t use Nokia! Shocking as it may sound, those days are long gone. The smartphone market has changed a lot and in order to make a mark at present age day and time, Nokia has to think outside of the box.
They ave to come up with something completely new. Something that has never been done before in the history of the smartphone. Otherwise, it will be unable to attract the attention of the present day users. Only a small community of users who feed of reminiscing on the past will not be enough. Nokia has to innovate and ensure high conversion rates. They should do something that compels present flagship users to look at the once mobile giant and appreciate it as the genius it was, back in the day.
Nokia has a lot of pressure on ts back, and frankly, I am curious to see as to how Nokia will pull off this comeback. I personally believe that they are aware of the present market scenario and have a trump card up their sleeve. The question is, what is it? Certainly, they are not going to let it leak out so easily, as the future of the company depends on it. Only time will tell.
- Nokia’s first Ansroid smartphone.
- The basic deal at this range. The only added feature might be its tough resistance against falls and drops.
- Low internal memory. No expandable storage.
- By the time is released, next generation entry level phones may take over the market.
