If you’re a Samsung fan, you may know already that company is going to launch its next flagships (Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus) smartphones in next few days. However, before it does that, it has done something great that will make its existing users very happy. The company has rolled out Android Oreo update for its Samsung Galaxy S8 users, so even if you don’t upgrade your smartphone this year you’ll get the chance of using the latest Android OS even before Galaxy S9 has arrived in the market.
That’s right – the update has been pushed through OTA route, and first of all, it has arrived in Germany. In next few days, it will reach other parts of the world too. It comes in the form of Samsung Experience 9.0 with firmware number G955XXU1CRAP.
The beta testing for this version of update started way back in November. The company has taken a long time of 3 months to push this update, so we expect it to work smoothly and flawlessly on our Galaxy S smartphones.
Galaxy S8 Oreo Update Features
The new features coming with it include:
- Colored media notifications
- Improved Samsung keyboard
- New launcher shortcuts
- Improved biometric functions
- Refreshed About section in Settings
- Dual Messenger.
- Notification dots
- Contextual app shortcuts
- Faster boot process
- And much more than that.
Other devices likely to receive the update include Galaxy J7 Prime, Galaxy Tab E8.0 and of course, the Galaxy Note 8 phablet of the company launched last year.
You’ll receive the download notification for update yourself very soon. But if you don’t get it, you can also take things in your own hands by going to Settings >> Software Update >> Download updates manually. However, there’s a good chance that you won’t have to do it as the update notification will come automatically.
So update your Galaxy S8 and then share your thoughts about it in the comments. We’d love to hear what you liked and didn’t like in Samsung’s approach towards Android Oreo in its flagship devices.
