Samsung Galaxy X is unarguably one of the most anticipated devices of this year, largely because of the hopes that it will be world’s first foldable/bendable smartphone. If this innovation indeed comes to life, it has the potential to completely change the future of global smartphone industry.
So let’s take a look on the rumors, concept and expected release date of Galaxy X to figure out when this massive development will take place in smartphone industry.
Samsung Galaxy X Rumors
Samsung Galaxy X is a device which has been in the rumors from an unusually long time. Thanks to its complicated nature, it’s under development since last 10 years, and as you may expect, during this long development phase a number of times it happened that the details of device were leaked to rumor mill. The latest few rumors about Galaxy X suggest that it’s being developed with model number SM-G888No, and that it will come with a 4K display to keep the resolution high enough even when the device is unfolded to work in tablet mode. Snapdragon 845 processor is another rumored specification of the device, but beyond that, nothing much is known about its other specs.
Samsung Galaxy X Concept
As rumors have suggested, Samsung Galaxy X will be a foldable phone that we’ll be able to convert into a tablet by unfolding it. However, recently during CES rumors had also suggested that Samsung has created two versions of this foldable phone – one folding inside, and the other that can be folded outside. We don’t know which version will be launched publicly, but it’s clear that the device will be foldable like a book.
The software will also have a major role to play in making the user experience of Galaxy X remarkable. For example, I guess the UI should be able to convert itself into tablet or smartphone mode automatically by detecting whether the phone is in folded or unfolded condition.
I also feel that Samsung will install its infamous infinity displays into this phone, which can in turn make it one of the most good looking tablets as well. And there’s also possibility of 3D touch feature in the device, similar to iPhones, which reveals more and more contextual information about any item based on how hardly you press your finger on the screen.
Samsung Galaxy X Expected Release Date
The launch date of Samsung Galaxy X has been a very, very tricky affair. At one point a Samsung Executive had said that the device will be launched by the end of 2014, but that obviously didn’t happen. Now the mobile business chief of Samsung Electronics has said once again to expect a foldable smartphone in 2018, so we hope it can be released by the end of this year. The chances are also higher this time because company reportedly showed the device to its select few clients behind closed doors at CES. Though it has also been done before, the number of clients who got to see it this time was higher than ever, and the device shown to them was reportedly in ‘almost finished’ condition. So there’s a high chance that this time we’re gonna get a Galaxy X by the end of this year.
